For those who hadnвЂ™t heard or were at either the 5 pm or 9 am Masses last week, a water line supplying the fire sprinkler system in the kitchen burst. Kathy will be the first of several speakers we will have each year sharing their stewardship story.You may have heard or read in an email that on Tuesday, January 4th, we experienced a water line break in the school kitchen. A steward is one who knows all that he has belongs to another and seeks to bring honor to its owner by returning his possessions to him in better shape than when he received them. Their part is moving us from fund raising to stewardship. This is a project of our new Stewardship Committee that is also working on changing our parish culture from maintenance to mission. Next weekend at all the Masses parish member Kathy Carpenter will be sharing her faith journey at all the Masses. Pray for Julie and our Confirmation students! Julie has planned a day where honest questions can be raised and given thoughtful, faithful, intelligent answers.

This Friday our Confirmation Class will be going on retreat to give their full attention to the вЂњTheology of the Body.вЂќ The Theology of the Body developed by Saint Pope John Paul II has grown to become the standard Catholic approach to issues of sexuality and gender. And speak they did! Think what Holy Spirit parish would be like if everyone was filled with a Spirit that moved them to step out in faith! Try Alpha!

Anyone who knows Nicole Smith, CC Nuck and Karen Kewer, knows that it took a special anointing of the Spirit to get them up to speak in front of a church. Tuesday evening, we begin our fifth round of Alpha at Holy Spirit Parish. Thank you to all who supported that rummage sale! The rest of the funds will be saved for a future Conference. Some of those rummage sale funds will be used to rent a place where our students can safely gather, watch the speakers online and build community. This fall the decision was made to not gather thousands of students because of Covid and so the event will be held virtually Feb. Perhaps you remember the big rummage sale students put on last spring to begin raising funds for that trip. The next big event was going to be the National SEEK Conference put on by FOCUS ministries in Salt Lake City. UW Students return to classes this Monday and so our Point Catholic programing resumes beginning with student Mass Wednesday evening at 8:00pm. The CCHD is one of the things I am most proud of in our Catholic Church. CCHD works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities.

Next Sunday we are invited to support the work of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Today we would say, he did not only give out charity, he also worked for justice. He wanted to lift people out of poverty to enjoy a full life. He didnвЂ™t want to just give the poor something to make them feel better.
